Introduction to Project Management: a new way to strengthen your CV

Projektinhallinnan perusteet: uusi tapa täydentää CV:tä

Project work touches an increasing number of employees, and it is no longer just the concern of project managers. Team members, specialists, interns and summer employees take part in projects where they are expected to understand roles, planning and how a project is brought to completion. Yet many lack a clear overall picture of what project management actually is.

To meet this need, we have added a new course to our online store: Introduction to Project Management. It is a self-paced online course that provides a clear introduction to the fundamentals of project management.

What does the course cover?

The course goes through the key areas of project management. The content includes, among others:

  • the fundamentals of projects and project management
  • structuring and organising projects
  • roles, responsibilities and effective teamwork
  • proven project models and frameworks
  • building a strong business case
  • initiating, planning, executing and closing projects
  • managing risks and changes
  • project governance and decision-making

The content is built so that what you learn can be applied directly to your own work. The course does not stop at theory but offers concrete approaches that work both when leading a project and when participating in one.

A certificate that stands out on your CV

At the end of the course, participants can test their knowledge with a final assessment. After a successful completion, you receive an official course certificate, certified by DNV (DNV-ST-0008 Learning Programmes) and accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

The certificate adds distinction and visibility to your profile. On your CV and LinkedIn profile, it stands out and clearly demonstrates that you have built a solid understanding of the fundamentals of project work.

Who is the course for?

The course is designed for anyone without prior project management experience who wants to understand how projects work:

Recent graduates. Standing out when applying for your first job is difficult. A project management certificate on your CV signals to employers that you understand the language of project work and are ready to step into projects from day one.

Summer employees and interns. Many summer jobs and internships today include project work. Knowing the basics before starting helps you get up to speed faster and makes a good impression on the team.

Specialists and team members. If you take part in projects as part of your wider role, the course helps you understand why certain things are done in certain ways and how you can bring more value to a project's success.

Aspiring project managers. If you have just taken on your first project manager role or are moving towards one, the course offers a strong foundation to build on.

Flexibility by design

The course is completed entirely online at your own pace. Access to the learning environment is valid for 12 months, so studies can be fitted around work, studies or other commitments. The total duration of the course is approximately three (3) hours, which means it can be completed flexibly over a few evenings.

The course is delivered in English, and the content is designed to be clear and easy to follow.

A possible next step: Project Academy

Introduction to Project Management is an excellent starting point, but it is only the beginning. For those who want to deepen their expertise more comprehensively, we offer Project Academy eLearning, a broader course package that covers the key areas of project management from planning to execution, organisation and agile project management.

Those who have completed the Introduction course receive a 20% discount on Project Academy follow-up training.
